Postcards From Manchester are delighted to announce that we are teaming up with two of the best creative groups in the city to present the Basement Stage at the festival this year.
For Folk’s Sake have been fast gaining a reputation as one of the best new folk promoters in the country, and we are delighted that they are going to be programming the music in the basement at The Deaf Institute for us.

Whilst we may know our stuff on the new indie bands, we are no experts on folk music. That’s ok though, as Sophie is! The bands playing downstairs during the daytime will be…
Maliika
Known for their multi-instrumental capabilities and effortless, laid-back style, the duo guide their listeners along an ambient soul/folk music excursion, with a couple of gospel sightings and tea breaks along the way. http://www.myspace.com/maliikasmusic
Samson and Delilah
Firm favourites of FFS, local folk band, Samson and Delilah, have a new album on the horizon… and we can’t wait. Led by husband-wife combo, Sam and Anna, Samson and Delilah are influenced by stories and traditions new and old, and write songs of love and longing, truth and deceit, beauty and decay. http://www.myspace.com/thesamsonanddelilahshow
Glass Ankle
“For anyone who has found themselves suddenly aware of being far away from home, there is something to take home. The style will be familiar to you, the content, however is not, and that places them ahead of the majority of the wealth of bands in the same genre.” – Whisperin’ and hollerin’ http://www.myspace.com/glassankleband
AND, as if that wasn’t great enough, we will also be joined by the wonderful folks from Good Grief! – the best fanzine and DIY art shop around.

They will be bringing a collection of the best zines, art, tapes, comics, posters and whatnots with them, and we would fully recommend that you bring some extra spends with you as you’ll be wanting to pick up loads from their stall!
Tickets for Postcards are selling really well, and are still available online from Ticketline, or in person from The Deaf Institute, Piccadilly Records and Common.
