Pull Yourself Together

Hello one and all, here is a quick update on all things PYT, including some important news, some sad news, and some live news! Since last we spoke we have put on our debut show in our new home of Sheffield, and were absolutely made up to see so many people down at Queens Social Club for Allo Darlin! Rest assured, this is only the beginning of things in the city of steel… We are also lending a hand to the fabulous new, and multi award winning, art gallery The Hepworth Wakefield for the next Wakefield Artwalk. On Wednesday 28th March they will be hosting a pretty amazing gig, featuring PYT alumni Patterns, Her Name Is Calla and Runners.

Advances in Mathematics – Unite for Syria campaign

As you probably noticed, back in December we released the Sad Xmas Present EP by Advances in Mathematics, which is on the verge of selling out as we speak. We've been delighted with how well the EP has been doing, and seems to have been selling really well in Germany and Japan! The opening track from the EP, Border, has been taken up by the Unite for Syria campaign, and is being used to soundtrack a video they released this week to mark one year of violence in the country, and call on Russia to back the UN Security Council action to end the crisis there.

Alongside this, the band have been playing a load of great live shows recently, supporting The Early Years, our good pals Air Cav and Norwegian noise-niks The Megaphonic Thrift. To top of this run of the dates the band will be playing at Long Division Festival in Wakefield in the summer, alongside The Vaselines, Art Brut, Aidan Moffat and Herman Dune.

UPCOMING DATES

16th April - The Castle, Manchester with Sleep People Parties
2nd June - Long Division Festival, Wakefield

Moustache of Insanity – …and now, the end is near – ARGH NO!

Well it has been a blast, but tonight sees the final engagement of Moustache of Insanity, who will be tearing apart their vocal chords screaming along to Aaargh No for one last time. It has been an absolute joy to work with Nik and Bill, and we are ridiculously proud to have been involved in their blipblopmusicalcareer. To celebrate the end of one of our favourite bands on the past few years we have decided to let you guys decide how good they are too, and have made all downloads of MOI's Album of Death pay-what-you-want until Sunday. That said, we would definitely suggest picking up a physical copy (on CD from us, or on vinyl from Fika Recordings) as the artwork is AWESOME.

So, as the Moustache is shaved, we say so long. Bill is going to be concentrating on all things Allo Darlin, whilst Nik is keeping hold of that Game Boy as Fulhast. Can't wait for the comeback tour in 2022…

UPCOMING DATES

16th March – Singapora Lounge, Rochester

Christopher Eatough – Cornerhouse show

Fresh from his residency at Manchester School of Art's Holden Gallery, Christopher Eatough will be playing a pretty special show supporting Jonny Kearney and Lucy Farrell at Cornerhouse this weekend for Hey! Manchester. Mr. Eatough will be playing tracks lifted from last year's beautiful debut LP A Creak in the Cold, alongside new material that he has been working on since the turn of the year. It doesn't seem like over a year since we released Christopher's album, and it is still a regular fixture on the PYT stereo.

UPCOMING DATES

18th March - Cornerhouse, Manchester with Jonny Kearney and Lucy Farrell

Patterns – Special gigs, album in progress, media darlings

Things seem to be going from brilliant to amazing to incredible for PYT alumni Patterns. Having just supported blog-vibe-heroes Youth Lagoon in that London, the band are featured in this month's Clash Magazine as hot new things, and have a few amazing shows coming up. The band will be playing live in two incredible spaces over the coming few weeks, heading over to the stunning The Hepworth Wakefield gallery, and then playing in the most beautiful building in Manchester – John Rylands Library (the fancy one on Deansgate, not the Uni one…). As if that isn't enough, the band have been confirmed to support Of Motreal at the Ritz, and most excitingly will be playing at Bestival in the summer. On top of all of that, the band are currently holed up working on the follow up to their last single Induction, and towards their debut album which will be coming out on Melodic in the not toooooo distant future. In the meantime, you can still pick up their debut release New Noise EP for free from us!

6-10th September – Bestival, Isle of Wight

And that's that for now. Remember that you can pay-what-you-want for the Moustache of Insanity album until Sunday this week, and pick up loads of other great free music in our shop! Speak to you all soon!
